The ad’s a bit creepy. However, there’s a lot of evidence suggesting that asbestos is not nearly as harmful as we’ve been led to believe.

you know, i realize that the freedom of speech allows businesses to advertise whatever they want, to a degree. but using a recent catastrophic event in advertising is just bad taste.

Asbestos WAS/IS good…
the improper handling/disposal of it is what was bad. Just like Clinton, you shouldn’t inhale!!!

I DO NOT like the way they are portraying this advertisement. To try and profit from such a horrible event and this comparison is completely morally bankrupt. This company should go bankrupt for immorality.
As with most substances that can cause harm our government has made this mostly illegal. Fact is although dangerous, asbestos is absolutely wonderful stuff. In many cases it is second to none with any other material. It is still used in applications where no other material will work! I think the government needs to stop regulating us to death. Stop trying to make everything illegal. Start taking the resources and money used to regulate everything and use it to fund research and ways to use dangerous things safely and education for people to use those things appropriately. Basically don’t ban the material because its dangerous and causes harm , find a way to use it safely. It might not be possible, but when I was born leaving earths atmosphere was impossible too. Ussally impossible means you don’t know how, or you haven’t tried hard enough. Of course that might require a dash of common sence and our government simply does not have any of that rare commodity!

Hey, if you were to do any research on this whatsoever, you will find that this ad ran in the 1970’s. good job.

OMG! You are right. How could the Asbestos company look to profit on this horrible event. It’s like putting Michael Jackson on a Wheaties box or something. What kind of marketing group would allow something like this to go public. You would think a company that made a material that has been banned for 20+ years would know better.

Good lord… I hope these idiots who think this is referring to 9/11 aren’t this stupid all the time.

I don’t get it. If you morons know asbestos is illegal and has been out of production for decades, why the hell would they make an advertisement for it? I can’t believe you people are allowed to operate power tools.

Asbestos is actually a really good building material as long as it is well contained or suspended in another material which makes it pretty much harmless. Asbestos is a great insulator and fire retardant, the only problems arise when the particles are not contained and allowed to get into the air we breathe.

My God!!! Can you believe that these idiots(7,9 and 12)thought this ad was made AFTER 9/11. I find it hard to believe that anyone could actually be so stupid and comment on something without thinking. John(in Ireland)

Idiots who know nothing compensate with more words. Notice how dense the posts of the ignorant are to detract us from their true stupidity. Brevity is the soul of wit… BITSOW?

Asbestos is still mined in Canada and South Africa, since it is still used in many other nations for a plethora of applications . Not sure if this is still true: Labatts beer used asbestos filters….but not for the US distributed product.

Asbestos really is not as bad as it is made out to be – most asbestos related mesothelioma cases come from a gross misuse of the product with little to no safety regulation — and once it is encapsulated it is harmless. I would even argue that with how cheap and effective the stuff is that we are worse off without it. This is the same sort of bizarre, panicky behavior we saw with DDT — they banned it and so caused millions of unnecessary deaths by mosquito related diseases in the third world. I guess as long as it is poor people suffering we can continue to comfortably sit on our first world high horse.

Well guys, There is a very interesting link with 9/11.

Read next article http://911research.wtc7.net/wtc/evidence/asbestos.html

The costs to remove the asbestos were so high that the collapse was very conveniant.
