Well guys, There is a very interesting link with 9/11.

The costs to remove the asbestos were so high that the collapse was very conveniant.

Asbestos really is not as bad as it is made out to be – most asbestos related mesothelioma cases come from a gross misuse of the product with little to no safety regulation — and once it is encapsulated it is harmless. I would even argue that with how cheap and effective the stuff is that we are worse off without it. This is the same sort of bizarre, panicky behavior we saw with DDT — they banned it and so caused millions of unnecessary deaths by mosquito related diseases in the third world. I guess as long as it is poor people suffering we can continue to comfortably sit on our first world high horse.

Asbestos is still mined in Canada and South Africa, since it is still used in many other nations for a plethora of applications . Not sure if this is still true: Labatts beer used asbestos filters….but not for the US distributed product.

Asbestos is actually a really good building material as long as it is well contained or suspended in another material which makes it pretty much harmless. Asbestos is a great insulator and fire retardant, the only problems arise when the particles are not contained and allowed to get into the air we breathe.
